Ryan D. Urrey, of Scribner Avenue, lost his fight against addiction on Sunday, July 10, 2022. That fight is very long and very hard, but Ryan’s example of courage through the hardest first steps will hopefully help bring others to recovery.
Ryan was born 26 years ago on May 31, 1996 in Schenectady to Jennifer (Wood) and Dale Urrey and graduated from Middleburgh Central School. A typical country boy at heart, Ryan loved nothing more than casting his lure into the water and waiting for a tug on his line. The serenity of nature and the beauty of our scenic valley brought him much comfort. He enjoyed learning about history, how things were done in the past and hearing the music of his favorite group, The Grateful Dead. And there’s no question that he loved his family and friends and being in their company.
Loving him forever are his mother: Jennifer Urrey (Corey McMillen) of Richmondville; father: Dale Urrey of Middleburgh; adopted brother: Michael Cyr, Sr. of Richmondville; nephew: Michael Cyr, Jr. of Richmondville; grandparents: Kathleen Wood (Charles Andrew) and Lois Shufelt and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ryan was predeceased by his sister: Kayla Urrey and his grandparents: Martha and Allan Urrey and Ted Wood.
All are invited to a visitation with his family from 10:00-12:00PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Inurnment will take place privately, in Middleburgh Cemetery.
