Mary C. Loucks passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Mary was born 87 years ago on March 15, 1935 in Manhattan, to Mary A. (Pecan) and Francis J. Peifer and served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1955. She worked many places through the years, retiring from Prospect House as an evening manager.

She loved making dolls, visiting Turning Stone Casino and playing Bingo.  Mary enjoyed traveling and visited California, Florida and Myrtle Beach.  The Adirondacks were also a favorite destination and many summer vacations were spent at Lewey Lake.  And she never missed watching Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone With The Wind,” her favorite movie.  There were many other classic movies that she enjoyed but her heart, like Scarlett’s, never truly left Tara.

Loving Mary forever are her daughter: Caroline (Robert) Kennedy of Middleburgh; grandsons; Robert (Jodi) Pangburn of Huntsville, AL., Andrew (Tina) Pangburn of Middleburgh; great-granddaughter: Gabrielle Pangburn of Fayetteville, NC; brothers: James Peifer, William (Theresa) Peifer, Thomas (Julie) Peifer; sisters-in-law: Leona Loucks, MaryAnn Peifer and many nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by her husband: Clarence Loucks; son-in-law; Virgil Pangburn; brothers; Francis Peifer and John Peifer.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in the Old Section of Middleburgh Cemetery, Section 8. Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Mary and her family.
