Machito Budhai Obituary

Middleburgh - Machito Budhai found eternal peace on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at home, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Machito was born on August 31, 1965 to his mother Diana (Crooks-Bygrave) and his father, Ruperto Budhai, who predeceased him.

Machito enjoyed nature, hunting, motorcycles and a good film. He was well-read with college degrees and could discuss any subject in depth. He could spin a good yarn and had the gift of gab, to say the least. He had a rock-solid memory and could narrate situations from decades back, usually that involved him coming out on top.

Machito liked to laugh and he could tell and take a joke like no one else. When you got him laughing, you got that brilliant smile.

Machito had a creative side too.  He sketched his own tattoos, practiced martial arts, could cook and was an accomplished guitar player and talented wood worker, building his own house steps.

Machito was an entrepreneur to the core, buying and selling vehicles and construction equipment, opening a video store and dabbling in countless ventures and trades.

Machito had a reputation as a tough guy and he made sure to foster that persona at all costs. He was tough, no doubt, but he was a soft too, with a heart of gold. He loved animals so much that he would break up fights between his cat (named Cat) and his goat (named Goat Goat) as they maneuvered for space in front of his wood stove on cold nights.

He was a loyal, loving friend to those who were close to him and shared what he had in times of need. He volunteered security services for nonprofit concerts and was a very loved member of the Harley Rendezvous, Wormtown Festivals and Max Creek Festivals.

Machito may best be remembered for the love that he and his mother shared. Diana and Machito had a bond that was immeasurable. That respect and love Machito put out on the world came from her and he was taught well. Loving him forever, besides his mother Diana are his uncle: Garrett Budhai; many cousins including Andrea, Gina, Gary, Charles, Nicholas; many members of the Budhai family, the Crooks family and the Lewis family along with his closest friends and extended family: Larry, Joe and Melissa, Chance, Talya, Danielle and Marcus.

Machito’s family and friends will gather together to celebrate his life and his love at a time and a place, convenient to all and thank you for remembering him and them.

They also request that memorial contributions in Machito’s honor be made to any charity of your choice.
