Kenneth Hulbert Obituary

Kenneth Hulbert, of Ecker Hollow Road died peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Born on December 1, 1933 at home in Broome Center to Wilson and Marion (Cleveland) Hulbert and raised in a farm family, Ken decided when he was a young boy that he was going to be a farmer and fulfilled that by working on dairy farms his entire life.  Ken was a tenant farmer but was proud to state that he was a ‘herdsman’ first.

He loved collecting stamps and coins which continued up through his last days. Ken was a hard worker his entire life.  He would work as many jobs as necessary to provide for his family while still putting in the long hours required to operate a dairy farm. Ken married Elizabeth Presher on January 14,1956 with whom he shared 48 years together before her passing in 2004.  He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend by all who knew him.  After retiring from farming at the age of 70, Ken kept busy by cutting fire wood by hand, building monumental stone walls and watching NASCAR, for Ken was known for saying “I like to go fast.”

Loving Ken forever are his children: Kenneth (Chirawan) Hulbert, Warren (Melissa) Hulbert, Rose (James) Adams, Melody (David) Houck, Leonard Hulbert; grandchildren: Heath Hulbert, Ashlen (Matt) Moran, Griffin (Brittney) Hulbert, Wyatt (Krysta) Hulbert, Jennifer Hulbert, Zachary (Elizabeth) Hulbert, Tanner (Britni) Hulbert, Austin (Kenzie) Hulbert, Jordon Hulbert, Julia Adams, Lyndsey Adams, Sarah (Nicholai) Houck, Benjamin (Stephanie) Houck, Kathleen Hulbert; great-grandchildren: Hadisyn, Fayelyn, Kanyon, Layton, Reagan Moran, Zyler, Landyn, Grayson Hulbert, Kacee Hulbert, Taten Hulbert, Chandler Hulbert, Alexandra Chase; brother; Philip Hulbert.  Ken was also predeceased by his sons: Steven Hulbert and Donald Hulbert and his siblings: Elsie Myers and Leland Hulbert.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to John Novak M.D. for the care and compassion he showed Kenneth ‘Pop” over the years.  Thanks also to the M.E.V.A.C. crew for helping us get Ken safely to Cobleskill Regional Hospital where the staff provided the comfort and care in his last hours, which brought great peace to his family.

A private burial will be held at a later date in Potter Hollow Cemetery and his family thanks you for remembering Ken and them through this time.  Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Ken and his family.
