Giancarlo Boba Obituary

Decatur, GA - Giancarlo Boba, of Flat Shoals Parkway, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Grady Medical Center in Decatur, from injuries sustained from being struck by an oncoming vehicle, while walking across the road.

Gian was born on March 10, 1969 in Utica, NY to Antonio Boba, M.D. and Anne (Whitbeck) Hendrix. Gian graduated from Schoharie Central School in 1987 and then from SUNY Cobleskill, where he earned an AA in culinary arts.

Cooking was always his passion and he was never happier than when feeding and spending time with his family. He worked for years at the Jolly Mac package store on Flat Shoals Parkway, a job he loved.  Gian’s vibrant personality ensured he was well thought of by customers, whom he was always happy to visit with.  Matching his personality, he was also known by many for his beloved and ever-present tie-dyed shirts that lit up his presence as much as his smile.

Gian met and married Jacqueline (Kirby) on October 6, 1995 and together they raised their two daughters: Pamela (Jacobi) Hall of Hanover, MD and Rosa Boba of Decatur, GA.  Gian’s life and love will be treasured by them forever as well as by his mother: Anne (Whitbeck) Hendrix of Schoharie, NY; his sister: Tatiana Boba of Middleburgh, NY; his half siblings: Karen (Tim) Greer of Endicott, NY, Alan Boba of NJ and Stuart (Denise) Boba of Bloomingdale, Il; his siblings-in-law: Phillip Kirby of Coconut Creek, FL, Patrick (Alissa) Kirby of White Plains, NY and Karen (Collistus) Lorde of Hamden, CT; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father; Antonio Boba, M.D.

Cremation will take place in Decatur and a memorial graveside service will be held at the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie, NY in the spring.

Memorial contributions in Gian’s honor may be made to a food bank or animal shelter of your choice.
