George Chichester Obituary

Livingstonville – George P. Chichester passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2020, 14 years to the day of the death of his beloved wife, Virginia.

George was the youngest of 12 siblings and was born on Mace Hill Road in the Town of Broome in 1931, to Molly and Coit Chichester.  George left the family farm in the late 1940s and married his wife Virginia in 1951.  They moved back to Schoharie County after his retirement in the late 1980s from AT& T in New Jersey.

George served on the Town of Broome planning board and was active with the Flat Creek Baptist Church.  He was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a hand.  He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his home and acreage and any reason to use one of his John Deere tractors made him extremely happy.

George is survived by his son Bruce and his wife, Silvia, his son Steven and his wife Melissa and his grandchildren Michelle Chichester and Daniel Chichester.

George will be put to rest with a private ceremony and burial in Livingstonville Cemetery.

George’s family requests memorials in his honor be sent to the Schoharie County Office for the Aging, 113 Park Place, Schoharie, NY 12157 or to Horizon Christian Fellowship, PO Box 72, Cairo, NY 12413
