Duane A. Bevins, of Treadlemire Road, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 25, 2022 in the loving care of his family.
Duane was born 81 years ago at home, in “The Holler,” West Middleburgh on January 18, 1941 to Virginia (VanDuesen) and Walter Bevins. Duane was a welder by trade and retired after 30 years with General Electric in Schenectady. Duane was a Jehovah’s Witness and member of the Kingdom Hall in Cobleskill.
He loved fishing and hunting when able and searching out the perfect piece of Carnival Glass to add to his ever-growing collection. This collection was not limited to just his favorite glass, but to anything interesting, unique, obsolete, antiquated or just curious that caught Duane’s eye. Duane would have given Fred G. Sanford a run for his money and they surely would have enjoyed visiting and reminiscing about their hunts and treasures. Duane’s other passion was for antique and classic cars, owning several through the years.
Loving him forever are his wife: Patricia (Gathen) Bevins, whom he married on April 4, 1974 and his children: Gary (Rebecca) Bevins, Melissa (“Bobby”) Gorton, Kelly (Jake) Cook, Kim (Allan) Vedder, David (MaryBeth) Bevins; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. Duane was predeceased by his parents and also his step-mother: Dorothy Bevins.
All are invited to a visitation with Duane’s family from 4:00-6:00PM on Friday, April 1, 2022, followed by a closing prayer service at 6:00PM at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.
Memorials in his honor are requested to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or Helios Care 297 River Street Service Rd, Oneonta, NY 13820
