Obituary
Barbara Joan McBain Wood, died peacefully onJune 23, 2022 after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Robinson
Terrace Nursing Home for the last month and a resident of Marchand Manor Assisted Living for the last three years.
Joan was born 89 years ago on January 10, 1933 in Middleburgh and was a 1951 graduate of Middleburgh Central School.
Joan moved to Marrero LA. in 1975 and returned to Schoharie County in late 2018.
While still living in Schoharie County, she was employed by Schoharie Central School as a cafeteria aide, the former Eden Park Nursing Home as an aide and General Electric before moving to LA. In LA, Joan was employed by Piccadilly Restaurant as a hostess before retiring.
She is survived by her children: Harold (Darlene) Sparrow, St. Leonard, MD, Robin (Walt) Myers, Howes Cave, John Manchester, Marrero, LA and Joseph Manchester, Richmondville; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; also, by Edward McBain and Jim (Carol) McBain and their families, of Middleburgh.
She was predeceased by her son: Clayton Sparrow in 1984; her first husband: Harold Sparrow, Sr. in 1960; her adoptive parents: Henry and Viola McBain; biological mother: Ada Almy; sister: Evelyn Denno; adoptive brothers: Edward (Beulah) McBain and Clayton (Mary) McBain.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date, in Middleburgh Cemetery.
