Barbara E. Ihrig

Barbara E. Ihrig, of Daniels Road, Saratoga Springs, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Daughters of Sarah in Albany.

Barbara was born 73 years ago in Albany to Therese (Byrne) and Walter Parkes.  Barbara worked for many years in Telecommunications, as a First Level Manager with Verizon.  She lived for many years in Tarpon Springs, Florida and learned to love the largely Greek community there.  So much so, that Barbara immersed her life with the Greek culture.  She learned to speak Greek, mastered cooking the traditional recipes and traveled frequently to Greece on holidays.  Barbara’s love for the area and culture also brought her deeper into their faith, eventually joining the Greek Orthodox church. 

Happy at home, when not traveling, Barbara’s other passion was for her grandchildren and being their devoted “YaYa.”

Surviving Barbara are her daughter: Nichole Cordon of Holliston, MA; grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Kyle Cordon, of Holliston, MA; partner for 25 years: John L. Bokus, of Saratoga Springs; brother: Kenneth Parkes of Middleburgh; niece: Lauren (Brendan) White of Westerlo; nephew: Colin Parkes of Middleburgh; great-nephews: Jacob and Cody White of Westerlo; cousin: Allen (Dana) Parkes of Selkirk.

A private graveside service will be held in Middleburgh Cemetery.  Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Barbara and her family.
