Albert “Ed” Lawyer of Route 30, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford where he had been living the last few years.
Ed was born on April 26, 1927 in the Town of Fulton to Edith (Herbst) and Albert A. Lawyer. An entrepreneur all of his life, Ed was a jack of all trades and never shied away from a good day’s work. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time hunting, fishing and trap shooting, cutting wood and working his land.
Ed also loved coming to town and visiting with friends. You knew exactly where Ed stood on everything. His openness and gruff honesty were shared daily with his extended family and friends at Mrs. K’s Kitchen, M & J’s Café and the Middleburgh Diner for many years. He loved telling stories and a good joke too. Even after his truck was retired, Ed knew he could get into to town for the latest news on his 4-wheeler and off he’d ride.
Ed’s surviving family include his sons: Jay (Marsha) Lawyer of Middleburgh and Michael (Connie) Clapper of Schoharie; grandsons: Michael Lawyer and Michael Clapper; step-grandsons: Bryan Stevens and Michael Stevens; brother: Boyce (Marlene) Lawyer of Watsonville and their families.
Ed’s family would like to extend thanks to the nurses and staff at Robinson Terrace for all of their care and attention.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, his urn will quietly be interred on the family lot in the Old Section of Middleburgh Cemetery. Please celebrate Ed’s life over a cup of coffee, a story and a memory of the cranky old coot that he could be.
Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Ed and his family.
