Thera Carver Obituary

Middleburgh – Thera Carver, 76, of Warrior Way, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Friday, July 27, 2018.

Thera was born in Middleburgh on August 8, 1941 to Edna (Finch) and Bradford Rivenburgh.

She spent many happy summers working at the O’Neil House and Delwood Resort in Durham before moving to the Bronx after graduating from Middleburgh Central School in 1959 as Salutatorian of her class.

Thera moved again to several places with her husband Dewey during his service in the Navy before settling back in Middleburgh and working as a stenographer for the New York State Senate for many years before starting her lasting and favorite job as a stay-at-home mom.

Thera returned to work in 1995 when Walmart opened it’s doors in Cobleskill and was an associate there, greeting and helping patrons before her retirement in 2012. She also babysat many children through the years and especially adored caring for her great- nieces, Kayla and Courtney.

Thera enjoyed visiting the casinos and playing Bingo, vacationing on the Jersey shore, visiting with her sisters and friends over coffee and listening to music.  While having a soft spot in her heart for Elvis Presley, it was her grandson that truly tugged her heart strings and brought her the greatest joy.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister: Shirley Rivenburgh; brothers: Bradford, Kenneth, Donald and Robert Rivenburgh and by her niece: Jean Ann Bryant.

Married on November 19, 1960, Thera’s loving husband, Dewey Carver of Middleburgh holds her memory closest along with her  children: Heather Carver of Malta, Brett (Joanne) Carver of Castleton-on-Hudson, Shawn Carver of Middleburgh; her grandson: Jack Carver of Middleburgh; her sister: Loretta Bolen of Middleburgh; her nieces: Pamela (Rick) Sinko of Latham, Patricia (Kitchell) Paser of Middleburgh, Amy Bolen (Darrell France) of Cherry Valley, Jennifer (Chris) Hubbard of Middleburgh; her sisters-in-law: Alice Rivenburgh of Salisbury, MD and Linda Rivenburgh of Cobleskill; many great-nieces and nephews.

Thera’s family also wishes to thank Catskill Area Hospice and especially Starleen Wood for all of their care and support.
