Schenectady – Stanley E. Scislowsky, 101, of Curry Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his home.
Stanley was born in Middleburgh on August 3, 1917 to Mary (Salabye) and Michael Scislowsky. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1936 until 1940 and again from1943 until his Honorable Discharge in 1945.
Stanley retired from the United States Post Office and was a talented craftsman, helping build model train sets with his son, making wooden furniture and even building a few houses. He also enjoyed repairing and restoring motorcycles and was a very talented artist, painting beautiful landscapes on canvas. Stanley’s other passion was Western dancing and Clogging with the Schoharie Valley Cloggers. The music touched his spirit and kicking up his heels came naturally to Stanley and even led to romance. He danced many years beside his future wife and beautiful partner, Barbara (Long) Scislowsky, who predeceased him in February of this year.
He was also predeceased by his sisters: Julia Hartmann and Katherine Pullman.
Stanley will be held forever in the hearts of his family including: Sharon (Harry) Amendola of Schoharie, Michael (Ann) Scislowsky of Daytona Beach, FL, Babette (Marc) Beckley of Melbourne, FL, Michele (Darin) Zanner, of Melbourne, FL; 6 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Stanley’s family thanks you for remembering them through this time as only a graveside committal service will be held, at a date and time to be announced, at Middleburgh Cemetery.
