Middleburgh – Sharon Lou (Shepard Lonsberry) Miazga, 76, of MT Path, died in the warmth of her home, surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 25, 1941 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Beatrice Eileen McKee and Stanley Hansen Shepard, Sr.,Sharon grew up in a large family and graduated with honors from Hornell High School.

Sharon worked as a Corporate Secretary for over thirty years at an international company, Special Metals in New Hartford, before retiring. She proudly served on the Board of Directors for Americu for the past 25 years. She received numerous awards and accolades for her work both at the local and national level. Through the years, Sharon dedicated countless hours coordinating and attending numerous events, the two closest to her heart being Hospice and Families of the Soldiers at Fort Drum. Sharon was a driven professional. She remained a brave, strong-willed woman, even throughout her final months.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved attending sporting events, special activities and shared countless memories and fun with the “three amigos & Pedro.”  Sharon was an avid Yankee and NASCAR fan, enjoyed a zest for life, traveling, sightseeing, camping, playing board games and cards with a fondness for Texas Hold-em.

Sharon was predeceased by her first husband: Allen (Al) Lee Lonsberry, Sr.; her loving son: Allen Lee(Lee) Lonsberry, Jr.; her precious grandchild: Joshua Allen Lee (Josh) Weaver; her big brother: Stanley Shepard, Jr., and devoted sister:  Sylvia Hall.

Treasuring her life and love eternally is her second husband Ronald Miazga of Middleburgh. Sharon will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted daughters: Michele (Roger) Weaver and Dawn (TR) Greene; treasured grandchildren: Zachary, Lauren and Michael Weaver, Kelsey, Molly and Sierra Greene, Kate and Ethan Miazga, and Skyler and Peyton Wells; her stepchildren; Peter (Julie) Miazga and Sue (Nathan) Wells and her cherished siblings: Kay (Jim) Day, Philip (Lisa) Shepard, Joan (Mick) Alvord, Tracey (Fritz) Kelley, Stevie (Yuki) Shepard, Lynn (Tom) Bob, Susie (Joe) Pelych, Patti (Mike)Spangler, along with countless nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In the end, cancer lost its strength, love and family now abound in its place. Sharon was right, things do come in threes, the BEST being FAMILY, dreams and memories.
