My sister Diane was Pete's second wife in the 1980's when he was still a member of the NYPD. I always had a good relationship with Pete and liked and respected him very much. I particularly admired his determination and strength in his battle with illness during this period. Condolences to his wife Rose and children Peter, Denise, Rocco and their families. May he rest in peace.

To The Igneri Family.
I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Pete more than 30+ years as cops in the MTS Precinct. Pete was a good cop but more importantly he was a good person. When working with Pete I always felt safe and knew he had my back. Pete was one of my mentors as I was a young cop. He taught me much about police work and how to correctly deal with people. I recently retired after working 41+ years in the Department and I can honestly say Pete was one of the BEST cops I ever worked with and I am honored to have had the privilege. Good bye old friend and thanks for showing me the "ropes" and all the fun and laughs we had. May you rest in peace.

We've known Pete forever. He was a great friend of my father, John Urrutia, and we could always count on Pete. His heart was bigger than life and he was always ready to help if you needed that. We will miss seeing him here around the Lake.

I have known Pete all of my life and wish he could have met my daughter and that she would know the kind man he was. We only saw Pete during the summers at the lake but will always remember the kindness he showed towards my whole family and the help he used to give to my grandparents. He will truly be missed.

Pete, I know that Smokey and Buck met you at heavens door waiting for a good game of fetch. Rest in peace my friend.
