Middleburgh – Paul E. Standhart, 79, of Squaw Trail, found eternal peace on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from the comfort of his home.
Paul was born on December 20, 1938 in Cobleskill to Marguerite (Barner) and Leslie Standhart.
After graduating from the former Cobleskill Central School, Paul began working at General Electric’s Apprenticeship program becoming a tool and die maker until 1958 when he enlisted in the United States Army, serving until 1960.
Following his honorable discharge, Paul returned to General Electric but soon moved to the Carpenters Union, now Local #291 in Albany, where he would continue working for over 30 years until retiring.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul found solace in nature and loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed traveling to the casinos. Turning Stone and trips to Las Vegas, where his daughter would meet him, were tops on his list, as was testing his luck and skill at the video poker machine.
Paul loved visiting with friends and was generous with his time and skills. A member of the West Fulton and Middleburgh Rod & Gun Clubs, he helped build the Middleburgh Clubhouse. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 2695 in Cobleksill for many years.
Along with his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sister: Janette VanScaick.
Holding his memory and love the closest are his loving wife and caregiver, Beverly (Almy) Standhart, of Middleburgh, whom he married on December 26, 1958; his children: Paula (Robert) Orth of Cobleskill, Pamela (James) Harrison of Mesa, AZ, Peter Standhart of Albany; grandson: Dylan Orth of Liverpool; sister: Arline Breitung of Saugerties; brother: John (Cherie) Standhart of Gilboa
