Middleburgh – Mary Ellen (Helen) Brosnan, 88, of MT Path, found the peace and joy of Heaven on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
Mary was born on August 25, 1929 in the Bronx to Catherine (Delaney) and Thomas Reilly. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947 and eventually married her sweetheart, William F. Brosnan in 1951, a love affair that lasted until he predeceased her in 2013.
Together they shared a lifetime of memories, summering in Gilboa for many years and wintering in Florida where Mary volunteered with Hospice, crocheting and making lap rugs.
She loved reading and was active within her churches, most recently a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley in Middleburgh.
When Mary and Bill moved to Middleburgh in 2009 she enjoyed activities with the Middleburgh Library, the Middleburgh Golden Age Club, the Red Hat Ladies, the Garden Club and she became a “regular” at M & J’s Café, visiting with friends and sharing stories about her family, whom she adored, especially her great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Mary was also predeceased by her son: Kevin T. Brosnan and her daughter: Kathleen Brosnan.
Cherishing Mary’s love and memory forever are her children: Mary Ellen (Bob) Cronin of Lawrence, Michael W. Brosnan of Middleburgh, Matthew G. Brosnan of Bronx; grandchildren: Amy Cara Brosnan, Brianna Rose Brosnan, Maureen Bradt, Erin McCloud, Michael E. Brosnan; great-grandchildren: Joseph Bradt, Logan Bradt, Teegan McCloud; sister: Catherine (Joseph) Fanelly of Florida; brother: Hugh (Nancy) Reilly of California; many nieces and nephews.
