Livingstonville- Lester M. Watson, 87, of Stone Store Road, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Chestnut Park Nursing center in Oneonta, following declining health.
Lester was born on September 21, 1930 in Livingstonville to Annabell (Hallenbeck) and Menzo Watson.
Proud to have been born, raised and live in the family homestead his entire life, Lester found great pleasure in the warmth and comfort of his home and garage. A true “Gearhead,” Lester was an automotive machinist by trade before working at Hannay Reels in Westerlo. He loved tinkering and restoring antique cars, completely rebuilding his 1936 Ford Tudor himself. He was proud to have been awarded over 50 regional First and Second place awards for his efforts. Lester also restored his family’s 1951 International Farmall tractor and kept a 1939 John Deere Model A as well.
Besides his parents, Lester was predeceased by his sister: Roxie Darby and brother: Adelbert Watson.
His surviving family includes his nephew: Ross Watson of Middleburgh and his cousin: Esther Smith of Henderson, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 3PM on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Jason Thompson officiating. All are invited to a visitation, from 2-3PM, prior to the service. Spring interment will be in the Livingstonville Cemetery.
