Joseph Conneely

Middleburgh- Joseph Conneely, 77, of Route 145, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.

Joe was born on July 29, 1940 to Margaret (Kane) and John Conneely in Renvyle, County Galway, Ireland.

He worked for many years as an electrical engineer in New York City with Arco Management, before retiring.

Joe loved visiting his family, traveling to his beloved Ireland and he passionately attended Gaelic football every year in East Durham.  He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a member of several local organizations, keeping up on current events, graciously offering his thoughts and opinions to open ears around him.  Though outspoken to a fault, Joe’s heart was gold and he would help another instantly, without question.

Joe was predeceased by his son, Peter and a brother.

His family includes his loving wife, Annie Murphy-Conneely, whom he married on December 9, 1987; sons: Michael and John; daughter: Susan; several siblings here and in Ireland along with many nieces and nephews.

All are invited to attend a prayer service at 1:00PM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, offered by Father Matthew Wetsel from Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church.  Visitation with Joe’s family will be from 12-1PM on Friday, prior to the service. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
