Jane McPhee Obituary

Jane Palmer McPhee, 78 passed away on June 15, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Murrieta California. She was the wife of Donald McPhee (Skip) of Scotch Bush and they shared 57 years together. Jane conquered her battle with metastatic breast cancer when she went home to her Heavenly Father and all of her loved ones, who went before her.

Born in Schenectady, New York. She was the oldest daughter of John and Barbara (Moot) Palmer of Middleburgh, New York. She graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1959 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Columbia Memorial in Hudson, New York, where she worked as a RN on the OB floor. She took a hiatus from nursing to establish and run the family farm with her husband. Later she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, New York.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the last 9 years of her life. She was an avid quilter, reader, and friend to all. She was a member of many Quilt Guilds in both New York and California. Jane was known for her warmth and humor.

She is survived by her husband Skip, daughter Susan Sawyers, brother John Palmer, grandsons Campbell and Ian Sawyers, nieces Beth Scarborough and Melanie Laraway, nephews Stan McLean, Tom Scarborough and Bill McLean and countless friends who have become family. She was predeceased by her parents and little sister Christine Polak.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:30PM at the Florida Reformed Church, 6255 Route 30 Minaville, New York. Interment will follow in Chuctanunda Cemetery.
