Middleburgh- Harold L. Zoch, 90, of Scribner Ave. died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Harold was born on May 31, 1927 in Brooklyn to Romilda and Nino Zoch.

After graduating from the former Richmondville High School, Harold enlisted and served his country from 1945 to 1947 before receiving an honorable discharge. 

Harold worked as a quality control officer for many years at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna before retiring.

His greatest passion was history and he served as Schoharie County Historian for many years, was active with the Middleburgh and Schoharie County Historical Societies, volunteered with the Old Stone Fort in Schoharie and the Best House Medical Exhibit in Middleburgh.  Harold also, with help from friends, researched, mapped and wrote a book about every cemetery in Schoharie County.

Harold was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and in his leisure could be found enjoying the solace of walks, sharing his neighborly spirit around the village of Middleburgh, hiking, searching fields for arrowheads and actively giving back to his community through service in the Middleburgh Rotary Club.   

Harold was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Zoch and his brother, Alfred Zoch.

His family includes his 3 sons, Gary (Lori) Zoch of Port Orange, FL, Craig Zoch and Jeffrey Zoch, both of Middleburgh, and his grandchildren, Joel, Kyle and Jessica

All are invited to a visitation with his family from 1-3PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.  A graveside committal service will be held in the spring in Middleburgh Cemetery.

Harold’s family requests that memorial contributions in his memory be sent to the Our Lady of the Valley Building Fund, PO Box 311, Middleburgh, NY 12122
