Gerard "Rod" Norelius, Jr. Obituary

Middleburgh – Gerard P. “Rod” Norelius, Jr., 69, of Lower Road, passed away on July 8, 2018 at Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.

Rod was born July 6, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to Noreen (Monahan) and Gerard P. Norelius Sr. and was the oldest of 8 children

Rod was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during Vietnam. He was a longtime member of both the American Legion and the VFW wherever he lived, as well as a member of the NRA.   He was a hard worker and known by his family and friends to be very generous.  Attesting to his grandfather’s talents as a minstrel artist, Rod loved music and strumming his guitar, often taking it with him, making music and memories for everyone near. He also loved nature, boating and fishing and many faithful Golden Retriever companions through the years.

He married his sweetheart, Patricia on September 3, 1983 and they moved fulltime from Long Island to Middleburgh in 1993, living in the home that Rod proudly built with his own hands and the help of friends and family.

Rod was predeceased by his daughter AnneMarie Norelius, along with a brother and sister.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia (Gearity) Norelius of Middleburgh; his daughter: Christine Norelius of Ronkonkoma; 7 granddaughters; 1 grandson; a great-grandbaby on the way; his 3 sisters, 2 brothers along with several nieces & nephews.
