Middleburgh- Frank J. Schafroth died peacefully, surrounded by family on May 15, 2019 after 73 years of memories, love and life.
Frank was born on November 20, 1945 in New York City to Marie (Benvenuto) and George Schafroth. Loving the peace and quiet of nature, Frank lived on Gates Hill for 45 years. He was an avid Yankees and Knicks fan, who loved to golf and spend time in his garden. He loved watching his grandkids play sports and enjoyed playing hide n’ seek and dancing with them. Frank also loved to travel with Debby across the US and abroad.
Frank was the essence of a wonderful father, mentor and coach. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached Little League and soccer for many years. Quiet and gentle, he was a seeker of truth and knowledge, yet possessed a great sense of humor and cherished and doted on his children, grandchildren and their friends.
Frank loved music and was proud to be an original Woodstock hippie from 1969. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady for 37 years and was a member of the IUE Local 301.
Frank’s love and memory will be cherished forever by his wife of 47 years: Deborah A. (Rivenburg) Schafroth, and their children: Jeffrey Schafroth and wife Patricia, Jessica Schafroth Barry and husband, Peter and Nathan Schafroth and wife, Gina; his five adoring grandchildren: Morgan and Sarah Schafroth, Derek and Alexa Schafroth and Paidin James Barry; his brother in-law: Karl Rivenburg, whose wife Kathy predeceased him, sisters-in-law: Rose Cain and husband, Marvin and Lois Buzon and husband Ronnie and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 12:00PM on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC. 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY. All are invited to come and visit with Frank’s family on Sunday from 10:00AM-12:00PM, prior to the service.
