Deborah A. Vadney-Sontheimer

Rensselaer – Deborah A. Vadney-Sontheimer, 61,of Madison Avenue, found peace and comfort from her declining health on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the loving care of her family and the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s 

Debbie was born on December 11, 1957 in Albany to Margaret (Benedict) and Thomas J. Vadney.

December is enveloped by Christmas joy and love which nestled deep in Debbie’s heart and she was truly a gift to her beloved family and friends.  Quick to share her mind, laugh, support and love, her presence will be missed by her friends and patrons at the 23 Port of Albany Truck Stop Restaurant that she managed for many years before retiring, at holiday celebrations and in the garden, where her loving care brought sunshine and warmth to her beautiful flowers.  And truly fitting that beyond her family, Debbie filled her precious moments with just those.  Her collection of Precious Moments figurines is unmatched and a symbolic reminder of what was most important to her life.

Besides her parents, Debbie was predeceased by her siblings: Pamela Vadney and Robert Vadney.

Her loving family includes her husband, Stephen Sontheimer of Rensselaer, whom she married on June 11, 2011 and her children: Kelly Ann (Stephen) Bray of Guilderland, Amy Jo (Jerry) Dubin of Carlisle, Thomas J. Vadney of Watervliet, Christopher M. Sumner of Utah; her beloved 14 grandchildren; her stepchildren: Alyssa Sontheimer of Watervliet, Stephen Sontheimer of Brunswick, Kyle Sontheimer of Clifton Park; siblings: Thomas Vadney, Theresa Vadney, Richard Vadney, John Vadney, Sharon Vadney; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. All are invited to visit with the family from 10:00AM-11:00AM, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
