Conesville: Betty L. Buel, 74, of Bearkill Road, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, following declining health.

Betty was born in Potsdam, NY to Betty May (White) and Eric Dahlberg.

She graduated from Gilboa Conesville Central School, received her Bachelor degree in Music Education in 1964 and Masters in Education in 1969 from Fredonia State.

Betty taught music throughout many local school districts for 45 years before retiring from the Schenectady City School district in 2009.

Betty was a proud member of the women teachers of Schoharie County Alpha Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and held many offices, including President from 2000-2002.

Betty served 10 years on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie Counties and she was also a member of the Conesville Fire Department and former member of the Conesville Rescue Squad, Auxiliary and an EMT.

Betty was currently the pianist at the North Blenheim United Methodist Church and had previously played at the Conesville and Gilboa Methodist Churches.

Her true passion was music, teaching piano for many years and teaching children the beauty of their own voices.  Betty was proud to conduct concerts and have her school children play for their loved ones.

Her other true passion was her grandchildren.  Proud of their accomplishments and activities, their shared love and admiration was immeasurable.

Betty enjoyed baking, flowers, the beauty of spring, her animals and the family farm.

She was married to her sweetheart, soul mate and husband, Raymond L. Buel on August 20, 1966 and shared her life with him for over 50 years.

Besides Raymond, of Conesville, Betty is survived by her daughters: Rebecca (Matt) Kopcienski of Mt. Sinai, NY, Heidi Buel of Conesville; son: Thomas Buel of Conesville; grandchildren: Gregory, Benjamin, Margaret Anne, Samuel, Lilly Ann and Brandan; sisters: Linda Szeliga of Conesville, Susan Norton of Raleigh, NC, Emily Oakhill of Poughkeepsie; brother: Eric Dahlberg of Conesville.

Betty’s family also wishes to thank all of the family and friends that drove her to dialysis.  She appreciated the rides, conversation and friendship.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the North Blenheim United Methodist Church with Michael Gebhard officiating.  Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5-7PM at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River St. Middleburgh, NY 12122
