Bernard Kennedy Obituary

Albany - Our beloved brother, Bernard M. Kennedy, age 72, passed away on December 9, 2019, at Albany Medical Center after a short illness. He was born on October 20,1947 in Watsonville, New York, the son of Kenneth T. Kennedy and Caroline Yannone Kennedy.

Bernie graduated from Middleburgh Central School and spent his adult years working for New York State, retiring from the Department of Taxation and Finance.

He was generous in spirit and action.  He had strength in adversity.  Despite many health issues throughout his life, he never allowed them to define him.  He loved socializing.  He was an avid reader.  He enjoyed current events, visiting museums, visiting art galleries, theater and all types of music.  He was a member of the New York State Historical Association in Cooperstown and also the Albany Institute of History and Art.

He leaves behind a sister: Carol Kennedy of Loudonville; a brother: Arthur (Mary Ann) Kennedy of Sloansville; a brother: Kenneth J. Kennedy of Middleburgh; a niece: Kelly (Jim) Brooks of Delanson; a nephew: Patrick (Jamie) Kennedy of White Rock , New Mexico; a niece: Sonya (Bob) Warner of Gallupville; a nephew: Reuben (Alice) Kennedy of Middleburgh; a nephew: Robert Kennedy and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A private funeral service will be held for Bernie’s family at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Spring interment will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are asked to be sent to the New York Historical Association PO Box 800, Cooperstown, 13326 or to the charity of your choice.
